5th Jardin de Belle Époque

A couple of weeks ago a costumer/ model I worked with about 5 years ago in Moscow, Marisha, tagged me as the photographer on a picture from that shoot she’d just added to Facebook. I remembered she was talking about moving to Germany then, so looked up her location and lo and behold, she’s just across the river in Cologne!…

Ravens of the North

I just got home from shooting over 3,000 photos at the third Times and Epochs festival, and I just love this photo so I’m posting it event though I’ve got nothing else from this event fully processed. My husband, the man in the photo, had gotten swamped by people requesting their photo taken with him, like always (he doesn’t mind),…

Event Herald April 2013

Some Moscow friends are doing Viking-themed entertainment evenings (“Поход Харальда” or “Event Herald” is the name of the group) and I’ve been doing a side of “your photo with a Viking!” as part of the entertainment. At the last one I got a bunch of the performers, and my husband who was in garb but just there for the medevouha (beer…

Open Studio, January 2013

Here’s the best pics from the January open studio day. Not many models but we had a lot of fun and will probably do another at the end of February. Dzhennet and Karina modeled in a variety of costumes ranging from Roman to fiddle-wielding fairy, a bottle of white wine was consumed, and much fun was had by all involved….

Viking Rus photo studio

At the end of September, I hosted a photoshoot in my kitchen studio for the Runejar reenactment club. Having 15 people in my studio flat, plus shields, axes, and armor, was really something. Their group focuses on the 10th Century Viking Rus, but includes women doing reconstructions of Alania period dress as well . They use the Valknut, symbol of the Norse god…

The Amazon

Lillian is one of my favorite models. She has a wonderful vibrancy about her and that Estonian way of always smiling, even when I’m telling her to look fierce! I was thinking “Maenad” when I envisioned this shoot, and when she showed up suntanned and wild, straight from camping at a music festival. I just said “Perfect – don’t touch…

Ancient Priestess

Last month I did a shoot in Ankara with model Özge Can posing in a chiton, a dress common to women throughout the ancient Mediterranean, at the Roman Baths archaeological site. Özge is working on a master’s degree in environmental engineering and does modeling as a hobby, and we connected via Model Mayhem. I’ve been thinking about writing more about…

Fashion shoot with Szilvia

Small gallery from my fashion/ lingerie shoot with my Hungarian friend Szilvia. She’s studying photography, but I’ve got to say she did awfully well in front of the lens. Unfortunately she doesn’t want me posting the more risque photos but we got some good fashion shots (and some of them were good, but as much as I’d like to show…

Recent studio work

I’ve been doing some more work with models recently, mainly a lovely Estonian girl named Lilly. Unfortunately, I seemed to have forgotten all my (meagre) Estonian except for “Saku Tume, palun”, which is how one orders a dark Saku brand beer. Delicious stuff. I’m not sure if it’s really that good, actually, or only that good in comparision to Russia’s…
