5th Jardin de Belle Époque

Goth Picnic A couple of weeks ago a costumer/ model I worked with about 5 years ago in Moscow, Marisha, tagged me as the photographer on a picture from that shoot she’d just added to Facebook. I remembered she was talking about moving to Germany then, so looked up her location and lo and behold, she’s just across the river in Cologne! So I wrote her and she invited me to a Goth/ Steampunk picnic later that week.

First of all, let me say that not only was the costuming impressive, but so were the people able to wear it in that heat. The goth look is really not designed for muggy summer days! Also, being able to wear an entire model ship on your head is not for the weak. Everyone I photographed has at least one picture in this gallery, by the way, and those who modeled for me for more than a minute have more. Shout-outs to models Marisha (the Victorian lady), FaerieCat (goth elf with horns), and EternalFlame (steampunk warrior) in particular; thank you for your time and I hope you like these photos.

Mostly I processed these pictures in Lightroom CC, with a few touchups in Photoshop, but I also used plugins from the newly-free Nik Collection, especially Analog FX 2 for its antique camera settings, and Perfect FX 10.
